Anna Maria Friebus geb. d. 26. Febr. 1862 in Fischer (Thelausa), Provinz Samara, Russland

Anna Maria Friebus became a member of the Deutsche Evangelisch-Lutherische St Martini Kirchengemeinde, Kapstadt, Südafrika, on 1 September 1879.

Anna Marie Friebus, a daughter of Johann Christian Friebus and his wife, Agnes nee Lichtner, was born February 26, 1862 at Thelausa in Russia. In the church of her birthplace she was consecrated to the Lord in holy baptism and also confirmed at the age of 14.

In 1878 the deceased emigrated with her parents from Russia to South Africa, living in the city of Cape Town for the next 12 years. In 1892 she came to America with her parents, the family settling at Wilson, Kans.

On May 1, 1892, Anna Marie Friebus was united in marriage to the Rev. Traugott Schulz, then pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran church at Stuttgart. For more than 44 years she shared with her husband good and evil days. This marriage was blessed with six children, four of whom, Erna, Traugott, Gertrude and Lydia surviving the mother. One adopted son Edmund, and one foster-son, Rudolph, have been brought up in her home and shared her mother love with her own children.

A faithful helpmeet to her husband she followed him to the various congregations he was called to serve, from Stuttgart to Lehigh, and from there to Belmont, and then to Gaylord. When her husband retired from the active ministry in 1921 she moved with him on the farm north of Stuttgart where she lived to the end of her days.

On January 13, 1937, the Lord called her husband from her side. With Christian patience she lived through the days of her widowhood waiting for the day when the Lord would call her also from this vale of sorrow to the home He promised to give to His children.

On Sunday, June 10, towards evening Mrs. Schulz contracted a hernia. This demanded an emergency operation. She was rushed to Hadley Memorial hospital at Hays Monday morning. On Wednesday, June 13, 1945, at 8 o'clock in the evening, the Lord called His servant from this life to the glory above. Mrs. Schulz attained the good ripe age of 83 years[,] 3 months and 17 days.

Her passing is mourned by her children, Mrs. Erna Beckmann; Mr. Traugott Schulz; Mrs. Gertrude Anschutz; Mrs. Lydia Schmidt; Edmund Schulz, and Rudolph Schulz; three sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law; 15 grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters-in-law; Mrs. Katharine Friebus and Mrs. Anna Friebus; and other relatives and many friends.

Interment was made on Saturday, June 16, in the cemetery of Emmanuel Lutheran church at Stuttgart. May she rest in peace.
