Hoxie, Kan. -- Louis "Louie" Bieker was born on April 30, 1906 in Schoenchen, Kan., the son of Alex and Mary (Dreher) Bieker. He died at his home Tuesday, June 11, 1996.

He married Ludwina Munch on Feb. 16, 1931 at St. Agnes Church in Grainfield, Kan. To this union 13 children were born.

He worked as a mechanic at the Hoxie Coop, Schlageck Motors and Burkepile Motors, prior to retiring in 1971. He was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Ludwina of Hoxie; his children, Ralph, Louise and husband Bill Bryant, Clarence and wife Ginger, Mary K. and husband Bill Sanders, Annie and husband Al Stillman, and Harold and wife Arlene, all of Hoxie, Ellie and husband Bill Douglass of Lincoln, Kan., Gene and wife Shirley of Palco, Kan., Alex and wife Willetta of McCook, Tony and wife Pauletta of Menlo, Kan., Barbara and husband Ralph Irvin of Wichita, Kan., and Charles and wife Sue of Salina, Kan.; 40 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; a brother, Martin Bieker of Grainfield; and a sister, Teresa Ashbaugh of Park, Kan.

Preceding him in death was his daughter, Viola, his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

A vigil service will he held today at 7:30 p.m. Mass of the Christian burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hoxie. Interment will be at the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Hoxie.
