Obituary provided by contributor Paul Hinrichs:
Mrs. Joachim Thiemann
Margaretha Hinrichs was born in Barnsen, Hanover, Germany, July 25, 1817. She was married to Joachim Thiemann, April 16, 1848. To them were born one son William, and one daughter, Dora (Mrs. Henry Tonne) both of whom survive. The family emigrated in 1857 from their home at Ebstorf, Hanover Germany to Lombard (then Babcock's Grove) DuPage County, Ill, where they lived ten years. In March 1867, they moved onto the Thiemann farm in Elk Grove, where they lived until her husband's death Feb. 23, 1897. In the fall of 1898 she came with her son's family to Arlington Heights, where she enjoyed every comfort and care. Hon. Wm. Thiemann proudly states that he has lived with his mother nearly 56 years in happiness, and sadly parts from her now.
Mrs. Joachim Thiemann, aged 87 yrs, 5 months, 22 days, died after a brief illness about 3 am Tuesday January 17, 1905. The funeral took place from her late home to St. Peter's church Friday afternoon, Pastor Noack officiating; interment at the family lot in Arlington Heights Lutheran Cemetery. Grandma Thiemann was blessed with a long and useful life. She was always a faithful member of the Luthean church and her memory will ever be revered by relatives and acquaintances.
