Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Nilges, 87, Linn, died Monday in Chicago while visiting two daughters, Mrs. Angele Schaeffer and Mrs. Jerene Dwyer.
Mrs. Nilges was born in 1878 in Linn, where she was a life-long resident, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Mertens. She was married June 24, 1904, to William H. Nilges, who died in 1944.
Also surviving are three sons, Lawrence Nilges, Linn, and Clement Nilges and Theodore Nilges, both of Lemay, Mo.; two other daughters, Mrs. Generose Knollmeyer, Linn, and Mrs. Alma Selk, Hamburg, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Anna Reinkemeyer, Linn; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Nilges was a member of St. George's Catholic Church, Linn, and of its Altar Society.
A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today in a Linn funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
