Cecelia M. "Ceil" Rieland, age 96, of Freeport, died peacefully on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 10 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Cecelia Mary Leukam was born December 29, 1913 in Meire Grove to Joseph and Elizabeth (Berling) Leukam. She stayed with her parents on the farm until they moved to Greenwald where she worked at the Weber Store and locker plant. She was a caregiver to numerous mothers with newborn babies. Cecelia then worked at Mike and Wally Dolza's in Paynesville for four years. On September 24, 1960 she was united in marriage to Norbert G. Rieland at Saint Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. The couple lived in Freeport until they moved to Watkins in 1967 where Ceil worked at a restaurant for years and then with her husband, Norb at the Cannery in Winsted and Glencoe. The couple retired and moved back to Freeport in October of 1981.

Ceil was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport, Christian Mothers, Sacred Heart Catholic Aid Society, and Goldenaires Senior Citizens.

Survivors include her children, Pat (Allen) Ehlert of St. Joseph, Janet (Marvin) Stueve of Melrose, and Kevin (Mary) Rieland of Becker; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; sister, Verena Uphus of Belgrade; and several sisters-in-law.

Cecelia was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert Rieland on March 5, 1995; parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Leukam; brothers Leo, Albert, Dillo and Aloys Leukam; grandson, Rick Hiltner; and granddaughter, Susan Hiltner.

Serving as casket bearers will be Mark Hiltner, Scott Hiltner, Cory Ehlert, Kevin Rieland, Lance Stueve and Ron Rieland. Cross bearer will be Melanie Rieland and scripture bearer will be Tiffanie Rieland. Gift bearers will be Ceil's children, Pat, Janet and Kevin. Readers will be Kelly Roering and Shannon Nied. Honorary bearers will be Jan Notch, Mary Ellen Rosen, Mary Williams, Mary Kay Blommel, Eleanor Dierkhissing, Delores Frieler and Rita Hiltner.
