Lazern "Lou" Hays(Hayes) Lerch, 87, of Waterford, PA, died Monday, March 21, 2011 at home. He was born in Falls Creek, Pa, on September 5, 1923. Son of the late Frank George(George Franklin) and Gretta Irene(Garetta Irena) Curry Lerch.
Lou proudly served the United States during WWII, with the U.S. Army for three years. After being honorably discharged he worked for the Pymatuning Game Commission for many years. He also worked for Erie Lackawanna Railroad and Rockwood Energy and Mineral Company for a few years. Lou was a member of the NRA and also of Washington Valley Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadine Lerch in 2008; his brother, Merle Lerch; and his great grandson, Cody Bowers.(and grandson Adam Tyger)

Survivors include his son Charles E. Lerch and his wife Julie of Altoona, PA; three daughters, Carol Bates of Conneaut Lake, PA; Nancy Bowers and her husband William of Waterford and Valerie Tyger of St. Marys, PA; one brother, Orval Lerch of Mississippi; also 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. (I dont believe the total of grandchildren and great grandchildren are right)

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Thursday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Duane Pinney officiating.
