New Vienna, Ia., March 27, - SPECIAL: Funeral notice for Clemens Bockenstedt, pioneer of this community died Monday morning at 6 o’clock at the age of 95 years and five months, were held from his home to St. Boniface church Wednesday morning at 9:30 o’clock. Internment will be made in the family lot in St. Boniface cemetery.

Mr. Bockenstedt leaves two daughters, Mrs. Henry Lake of Luxemburg and Mrs. Mary Krapfl of Dyersville; three sons: Henry, Autin and John of New Vienna; and two brothers, Arnold and Autin Bockenstedt, of New Vienna.

The local pioneer was a farmer and with his parents came to America when a child. His home was always made here.

Brothers Anton, Arnold, and Clemens Bockenstedt received national publicity when each, over ninety-years of age, decided to vote for Governor Alfred E. Smith based on the support of agriculture and willingness to admit the failure of Prohibition. Bockenstedt owned six lots and several buildings in New Vienna where he served as a school director and a member of the city council.
