OLD MT. CALVARY RESIDENT IS DEAD
Mathias Schmitz, 63, Expires At Home In Village After Long Illness
Funeral services for Mathias Schmitz, 63, lifelong resident of the county, who died at 2:30 p. m. Monday at his home in the village after three months illness resulting from a stroke of paralysis, will be held at 9:30 a. m. Thursday from the residence and at 10 a. m. from Holy Cross church at Mt. Calvary. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Schmitz was born July 9, 1866, at Mt. Calvary, and was married there April 24, 1884, to Miss Eva Lanser, who, with the following children, survives: Mrs. Peter Kraus of St. Peter, Mrs. .Leo Wingers and Mrs. Joseph Schmidt of this city, Miss Della Schmitz of Neenah, and Alvina, Jennie, Clara and Delphine Schmitz, at home. He also leaves a brother, Anton Schmitz, and a sister, Mrs. Hubert Weingratz, of Mt. Calvary, and three grandchildren.
Mr. Schmitz, a farmer, was a member of the St. Anthony society and Third Order of Holy Cross church.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MATHIAS SCHMITZ CONDUCTED FROM HOLY CROSS CHURCH
Funeral services for Mathias Schmitz, lifelong resident of Mt. Calvary, who died Monday, were held at 9:30 a. m. Thursday. from the residence and at 10 a. m. from Holy Cross church at Mt. Calvary, where a solemn requiem mass was offered. The Rev. Father Mathias 0. M. Cap. was celebrant, the Rev. Father Charles, 0. 14. Cap. deacon and the Rev. Father Louis 0. M. Cap. subdeacon. Burial was at Holy Cross cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Nick and William Weber, Anton Brenner, Anton Petrie, Joseph Steffes and Nick Olig, all members of St. Anthony's society and the Third Order, while Max Atkinson, Fred Bord, Frank Holzmann, Albert Koenen, Tony Neis and John Schmitz were active bearers. Conrad Brenner was crossbearer and the flower carriers were Elmer Kraus, Francis and Anthony Holzmann, Patty Lears, Mabel Wingen and Margaret G. Neis. The services were largely attended and there was a large floral offering. Persons from away attending were Mrs. Jacob Hamm and John Raths of Medford, John Kroner of Escanaba, Mr: and Mrs. Frank Kroner of Theresa. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Koehn of Oshkosh, .Mrs, John Koehn. Mr. and Mrs. Math Lanser and daughter, Bernice, Mr. and Mrs. John Christiansen,. John Lanser, Jr., Mrs. J. C. Gartman, Edwin Koenen, Mr. and Mrs. Math Simon and daughter, Viola, Mr. and Mis. Mike Simon. Math Miesen, Mr. and Mrs. Bartle Birschbach of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schmitz, Mr. and Mrs. George Bertram and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schmitz of Johnsburg.
