AGED MAN DIES IN IOWA
Anton Schmitz, 77, Native of Mt. Calvary, Expires in Muscatine Monday
Anton Schmitz, 77, Native of Mt. Calvary and farmer in that vicinity for many years, died Monday in Muscatine, Ia. He had been ill for a year. Mr. Schmitz was born May 11, 1853, and was married to Miss Agnes Hartogh. They celebrated thier golden anniversary on June 11, 1930.
Surviving the deceased leaves a widow and 11 children. They are Mrs. Pauline Atkinson, Mrs. Julie Rieder, Miss Emily Schmitz, Mrs. Catherine Holzman, Mrs. Anna Konen, Mrs. Ida Wuest, Miss Lydia Schmitz, Mrs. Alma Feyen, John, Richard, and Clarence Schmitz. A son, Herman, died 10 years ago. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Hubert Weingartz of Mt. Calvay. The body arrived here at 12:55 p. m. today and was taken to the famiky residence at Mt. Calvary. Funeral services will be held at 19 a. m. Friday from Holy Cross church in that village.
