Margaret E. Carey, 92, former resident of Chateau Apartments, died Sunday morning in Chateau Convalescent Center.
She was born in Muncie, the daughter of John E. and Mary Ryan Carey. She attended St. Lawrence School, Central High School and Muncie Business College.
After completing her business education, she was employed for four years as a secretary in the law firm of McClellan, Hensel and Guthrie. She next became an employee of Internal Revenue Service, which maintained a division office in the Johnson Block, then at the northeast corner of Charles and Walnut streets. Subsequently she went with the service in Washington and Philadelphia. She remained with the IRS many years before retiring and returning to Muncie.
Miss Carey was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include four nieces; four nephews; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Father William Grady will celebrate the mass of Christian burial in St. Mary's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Calling hours at Meeks Mortuary are 2-5 Tuesday. The rosary will be recited there at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
