Thomas Carey, 65, 230 Oakwood Ave., died at Ball Memorial Hospital at 12:30 a.m. Friday. Mr. Carey was born in Anderson but spent most of his life in Muncie. He was the son of John J. Carey, a former Muncie police chief. He had been in failing health fro the past two and one-half years. He retired from the Ontario Company last May after 48 years of services with them. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Helen H. Carey; five children, Mrs. William J. Schrader of Lafayette, Mrs. John Drayer of this city, John J. Carey, this city, Thomas P. Carey, Jr., and James M. Carey, Detroit, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Mark Carey, this city; one sister, Miss Margaret Carey, Philadelphia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Rev. Fr. E.J.Cyr officiating. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the Meeks Mortuary after Sunday noon.
