Lydia Stroh

Lydia Stroh, 82, lifetime resident of Fort Morgan, died Tuesday evening at Valley View Villa.

Mrs. Stroh was born Sept 26, 1915 in Fort Morgan to Alexander and Mary Katherine Reiber Meininger. She was raised here and attended Fort Morgan pubic schools.

On April 25 1935, she was married to Daniel Stroh in Fort Morgan. He died here Oct 10, 1982.

Mrs. Stroh worked as a cook for School District RE-3, the last eight years as cook for the high school.

She was beloved by students, staff and public alike and was the recipient of several awards for her service and kindness from such organizations as Future Farmers of America, the M Club and the Fort Morgan High School Athletic Booster Club.

She received special reorganization from the state championship wrestling teams of 1969 and in 1972 was honored when the class annual, The Pacemaker, was dedicated to her.

After her retirement from the school district in 1974, she could be found working with her sons, Rick and Larry, at their restaurant, Stroh’s Chicken Inn, now Stroh’s Inn.

She was a member of the Christ Congregational Church and the ladies organizations of the church. She had also been a longtime member of the church choir.

Mrs. Stroh is survived by two daughters, Diane Miller of Loveland and Vicki Edwards of Fort Morgan; one son, Rick of Fort Morgan two sisters, Lena Bender of Carmel, Calif., and Esther Bellender of Sterling. There are nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, three brothers and two sons, Larry Lee on Dec 29, 1986, and Robert on Oct 14, 1991.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. from the Christ Congregational Church with Rev. James Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens. Jolliffe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the church.
