."She was born on March 12, 1828 and baptized March 24, 1828 according to Immanuel Lutheran Church Records, Wilson, Kansas

She became a member of the Deutsche Evangelisch-Lutherische St Martini Kirchengemeinde, Kapstadt, Südafrika, on 16 December 1879.
Maria Catherina [Scholl] Friebus arrived in New York on 22 Apr 1885 aboard the bark Parenti from Cape Town.
She died March 30, 1908 at Wilson, Ellsworth County, Kansas and was buried April 1, 1908, in Wilson Cemetery (Lot No 210), Wilson, Ellsworth County, Kansas.

We were shocked Monday to hear of the death of Grandma Friebus. Although she had been in feeble health for years the end came very suddenly. She has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. David Anschutz, for many years, and will be sadly missed for her cheerful word and contented disposition were never lacking. The grim messenger came at 10:30 Monday morning. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the German Lutheran church and interment in the Wilson Cemetery.
The entire community extend to her bereaved family their sincere sympathy.
