Richard W. Drees
Richard W. Drees, 53, Route 3, Carroll, died about 4:50 pm Friday, Dec. 29, at St. Anthony Hospital, where he had been a patient for three weeks.
Requiem mass will be read at 8 am Tuesday, Jan. 2, at St. Lawrence Church, of which Mr. Drees was a member. The Very Rev. Msgr. Edward V. Vollmer will officiate and interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Twit Funeral Home after 7 pm Sunday. Rosaries will be recited at 7:15 and 8:45 pm Sunday; 8 and 8:45 pm Monday.
Mr. Drees, a son of Henry and Anna Fangman Drees, was born at Roselle Dec. 13, 1908. He attended Holy Angels School, Roselle, and on Jan. 14, 1930, was married to Leona Mary Reiman at Sacred Heart Church, Templeton. They have lived at their present home a mile west of Carroll since 1950. Mr. Drees was a farmer.
Surviving are his wife and five children: Mrs. A.R. (Pearl) Brown, Bellevue, Neb.; Mrs. Leo (Phyllis) Steffen, Atlantic; Richard Drees Jr. and Lloyd Drees, Carroll; and Diane Drees, at home. Also surviving are the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Frank (Cecelia) Kraus, Wall Lake; Mrs Rose Wittrock, Halbur; John Drees, Kansas City, Mo.; Louis W. Drees, Carroll; Edward F. Drees, Exira; and Mrs. Jan (Evelyn) Nosal, Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Eileen; his parents; three sisters, Mrs. Frank (Elizabeth) Dentlinger, Mrs. Joseph (Ann) Schneider and Mrs. August (Ella) Wittrock; and two brothers, Joseph and Henry Drees.
