Edward F. Drees
MANNING -- Edward F. Drees, 61, of Exira, a native of Roselle, died Sunday evening, May 19, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll following a long illness.
Requiem mass will be read at 10 am Wednesday in Holy Trinity Church, Exira, with burial in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 7 pm Monday at the Odhe Funeral Home in Manning, where the rosary will be recited at 8 and 8:30 pm both Monday and Tuesday.
Mr. Drees was born near Roselle July 9, 1906, and attended schools there. He worked on various farms in that area and on May 1, 1928, was married at Halbur to Viola Eisheid. After farming near Roselle for several years, they farmed at Manning for 20 years and for the last 15 years at Exira.
Surviving with his wife are seven children: Dennis, Manning; Mrs. Gerald (Margene) Rule, Cedar Rapids; Merlin, Lyle; Mrs. Dean (Janice) Anderson, Donna and Larry, Exira; also 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Frank (Celia) Kraus, Wall Lake, and Mrs. Frank (Rose) Wittrock, Halbur; and a brother, Louis W. Drees of Carroll.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Arden and Edward; four brothers, John, Joe, Henry and Richard; and four sisters, Mrs. Frank (Liz) Dentlinger, Mrs. Joe (Anna) Snyder, Mrs. August (Ella) Wittrock, and Mrs. Jan (Evelyn) Nosal.
