Obituary: Teutopolis Press - February 14, 1901
Grandma Hoffmann died at her home on St Paul street in this city Saturday, after an illness of but a few weeks duration. The deceased was born in Oldenburg, Germany, and came to this country in 1848, she was in her 76th year at the time of her death.
She was a devout Church member and a general favorite with the members of St Anthony's congregation and was loved and respected by all who knew her. Rev Lammert conducted the funeral service at St Anthony Church Monday morning, after which the body lay in state in the Church until three o'clock to await the arrival of her daughter, Sister Gwendoline, from the convent at Maukatn, Minn, who was coming home to be present at the funeral. The remains were laid away in the Catholic Cemetery Monday afternoon and was followed to her last resting place by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends.
