Jakob Ostwald son of Philip and Eva Schreiner Ostwald was born 12 July 1872 at Kautz, Russia. There he was dedicated to the Lord through baptism and later given religious instruction and confirmed.

He was married to Maria Katherina Geist in 1896. In 1905 he came to America followed a year later by his family. They lived in the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio before they moved to Johnstown, CO. From there they moved to Ft. Morgan.

His wife died in 1949 and the following year he married the widow Anna Krening Zwetzig who preceded him in death in 1960. The deceased was a faithful member of the Congregational Church in Ft. Morgan and belonged to the Brotherhood.

His life on earth came to an end on 5 Sept 1964 at the age of 92 years 1 month and 23 days.

Survivors are 3 daughters, Mrs. Anna Schreiner and Mrs. Elisabeth Loose, Ft. Morgan and Clara Klein, Salt Lake City, UT; 3 sons, Fred and Jake Jr., Ft. Morgan, Heinrich, Brush; 1 sister, Mrs. Elisabeth Wiegel, Denver; 2 brothers, Philip, George, Ft. Morgan; 8 stepchildren; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren. One son and one daughter preceded him in death.
