Note: Although her headstone supports an 1878 birth, this is the ONLY source I've found that does. Most census records imply (or state) that Mary Plass Tanner was born in October 1876.

1941 NYS Death Index supports alternate May 26 death for Mary A. Tanner in Rensselaerville - age 65 years.

OBITUARY (From Hudson NY Evening Register - May 27, 1941, pg. #8)

WAS GERMANTOWN NATIVE

Mrs. Mary A. Tanner, wife of the late Wilson Tanner, died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clinton Wood, Rensselaerville, after a long illness.

Mrs. Tanner, the former Mary A. Plass was born in Germantown and had lived at Rensselaerville more than 20 years. Besides Mrs. Wood, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Charles Gifford, and a son, Raymond Tanner, both of Rensselaerville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Mrs. Wood's home with the Rev. Williams of the Rensselaerville Episcopal church officiating. Burial will be in Medusa.
