Memorial services will be held Friday, June 24, at Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel 710 6th Street in Rupert with Pastor Joel Pike officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff with Pastor Garry Schick officiating.
Melvin was born June 6, 1926, in Gering the son of Carl Loose and Elizabeth Wamboldt Loose. On July 15, 1945, he married Marjorie Rohrick in Scottsbluff. Together they had four sons and for many years farmed in the Nebraska panhandle area as well as in Casper, Wyo. For a brief time, Melvin worked for Hunt-Wesson Foods in Woodland, Calif. and owned and operated a Shell Service Station in Lake Tahoe. He and his wife returned to Casper where they continued to farm near the Natrona County Airport.
Mr. and Mrs. Loose divorced in 1984. Melvin retired from farming and moved to Rupert, Idaho in the late 1980's where he lived with his life-partner Katherine Lorraine Rimmer until his death.
Survivors include his sons, James of Jackson, Wyo., Richard of Cas-per, Gary of Lander, Wyo. and Steven of Casper. Survivors also include his ex-wife, Marjorie; partner Lorraine Rimmer; grandchildren, Brian Loose, Janae Mercado, Jennifer Cyr, Matthew Loose, Angela Curtis, and Stephanie Loose; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl, Victor, and Willard; sisters, Betty Bauer, Juanita Bauer, Judy Hoff, and Elnora Harmon.
Preceding Melvin in death were his parents and brother Harry.
