William Werner, 6-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Werner, was instantly killed by lightning Tuesday evening (June 12, 1923) as he was sitting in an automobile with his sister and younger brother. The little girl was slightly burned on the leg, the other was uninjured. A dog lying beneath the car was killed by the bolt. The car was but little damaged. William was born February 9, 1917. Funeral services were held this morning at St. James Catholic Church at 10 o'clock, Father Adolph officiating. Burial was in Douglas cemetery.
