Charles Wilberding Of Remsen Dead; Rites Set Monday
Charles Wilberding, 76, longtime Remsen area resident, died Thursday at Floyd Valley hospital after a 3-year illness. He had been hospitalized for 10 days.
He was born Jan. 1, 1892, at New Vienna, and was a retired farmer. After his marriage to Mary Jasper, Feb. 1, 1921, at Remsen, the couple farmed in that vicinity most of their lives except for nine years in Minnesota.
His parents were the late Anton and Elizabeth (Feldmann) Wilberding.
Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 12, at 10 am St. Mary Catholic church in Remsen, Msgr. F.P. Schultes will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of the Fisch funeral home.
Friends may call anytime Sunday at the funeral home and the parish rosary will be recited at 8 pm that day.
Survivors are his wife Mary; three sons, Alfred, Marcus; Lawrence and Raymond, both of Cherokee; a daughter, Mrs. Leo (Helen) Flaherty, LeMars; 17 grandchildren; three brothers, Francis of Marcus, Tony of New Hampton, and Linus of Waterloo; and three sisters, Mrs. Art (Ida) Delperdang and Mrs. Sylvester (Clara) Clark, both of Cherokee and Mrs. Olivia Baack of LeMars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Wilberding was a member of the American Legion and Sportsmans club at Remsen.
