He was a son of Georges Benjamin Joerger, b. Niederroedern, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France and Maria née Ortmann Joerger, b. Leipzig, Germany. William was one of eight children.

He married Sadie Ellen Tammen forty-two years ago. They were the parents of George A., Karl, Clarence and a daughter, Mattie Joerger.

Metamora and Bloomington obituaries indicate he was born in 1862. Tombstone reads 1863.

He was able to speak in French, German and English. For many years, he was a painter and at one time a bridge tender.

Pekin - March 2 -
William Joerger, 68, died shortly after noon Saturday at his home, 801 Summer street. Death was due to cancer of the throat after a long illness. He was born in Metamora, Nov. 25, 1862. He was one of eight children all of whom have died except Ed Joerger, Pekin's oldest barber.

Forty-two years ago he married Sadie Ellen Tammen. He is survived by his widow, three sons, George A., Silvus; Carl W., of Springfield, and Clarence F., Pekin. Three grandchildren also survive. Mr. Joerger was a painter for many years.
