Frank Arthur Stender, 81, long time resident of El Camino District, Gerber, California, died at 11 PM yesterday, November 15, 1966, in his home. He had been ill for many months.

Frank was born on January 13, 1885, to John Andreas Stender and Mary Ann (Jensen) Stender, in Corning, Adams County, Iowa.

Mr. Stender came to the El Camino area 31 years ago and operated a poultry ranch until illness forced his retirement.

Funeral services for Frank were held Friday afternoon at Hall Brothers Mortuary with Rev. John Albright of the First Methodist Church officiating. Following the services, the body was taken to Chico for cremation. Acting as honorary pallbearers were Tom Eskeldsen, Ludwig Witte, Cornie Grootveld, Roy Pyle, Chris Anderson and Wieland Summy.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna J (Hand) Stender and daughter Vivian Stender Talbert.

Frank is survived by his wife, Maybelle Hand Stender; three daughters, Mary E. Smith of El Camino, CA; Thelma Walker of Corning, CA; and Jessie Parsons of Vallejo, CA; a brother Harry of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Edith Robertson, Greeley, CO; and Carrie Thompson of Eaton, CO; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family has announced that friends may contribute to the Cancer Fund in lieu of flowers.
