Mr. Shurson died Thursday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center after a long illness.
He was born April 30, 1924, in Eagle Grove, son of Anfin and Avie Minor Shurson. He married Elizabeth "Liz" Oetken May 21, 1950, in Eagle Grove. She died May 21, 1981.
They moved to Iowa City in 1961. He was employed by Econogas as a service man for 25 years. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Iowa City Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by two daughters, Diane (Mrs. Paul) Kaefring of West Liberty and Joan (Mrs. Ed) Patterson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one brother, Melvin of Abilene, Kan.; and one sister, Arlene Christensen of Eagle Grove.
