CURVIN H. KESSLER

Curvin H. Kessler, 62, husband of Mrs. Hilda Adams Kessler, Hanover, died Tuesday at 5:20 p.m. at his home. Mr. Kessler was employed 44 years as a salesman and clerk at J.C. Tanger and Son hardware store. Adams County was part of his territory.

A son of the late Charles and Annie Freet Kessler, he was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Hanover.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are three children, Mrs. Virginia Orfeo, Lancaster; Joseph Kessler, Lititz, and Robert Kessler, Hanover; six grandchildren and a brother, Richard Kessler, Hanover.

Rev. Carroll C. Luckenbaugh, pastor, will officiate at funeral services Friday at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ. Burial will be Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
(The original says burial will be at Rest Haven, but it is a mistake. He is buried at Mt. Olivet.)

Married in 1926 to Hilda Adams.
Curvin had 4 children. Virginia Orfeo of Lancaster, and Robert Kessler of Hanover. The late William "Billy" Kessler, who died of pneumonia in 1933 when he was almost 3 and Joseph Kessler, Formerly of Lititz, PA died in 1989 at the age of 55 of a heart attack. Curvin had 2 brothers, Ray and Richard, and one sister, Florence, who are all deceased. He worked as a clerk at Tangers. He has 10 grandchildren.

***According to my Dad, Robert Kessler, (Curvin's son,) Curvin had just gotten home from work. It was cold and windy as he walked up from the back garage. Upon entering the house he clutched his chest and collapsed. An ambulance had just begun to be available in Hanover and was called. An attempt at CPR was made but failed and he then was pronounced dead by Dr. Bathon at the Hanover Hospital, one day before Christmas.***
