Thomas Feist, 71, Bismarck, passed away suddenly on Dec. 12, 2011. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Corpus Christi Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Thomas was born July 22, 1940, in Zeeland. He grew up on the farm near Zeeland and attended school there. He married Linda Feist at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Strasburg on June 24, 1963. They lived in Bismarck, where he worked at Sweetheart Bakery for a short time and then became a painter and worked with his brother, Alex, and numerous other contractors until 1989 when he started working for Roy Dietz and Sons. He retired in 2002, but continued to be needed for Dietz's as the best brush painter around.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his 10 grandchildren. He was always willing to take them to "Papa's Park" and played special games with them. His favorite game was pinochle, which he taught everyone to play and always knew which cards had been played. He also loved dancing and "happy hour" with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling with Linda and his extended family to Florida, Hawaii and other warm destinations.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Linda; his sons, Tim (Linda), Reiles Acres, Jeff (Beverly), Bismarck, and Gary (Kathy), Bismarck; his daughter, Kim (Tony) Georgeson, Fergus Falls, Minn.; 10 grandchildren, Justin, Jonathan, Emily, Bryant, Taylor, Andrew, Megan, Lauren, Sarah and Brianna; two brothers, Alex and Francis; and three sisters, Lillian, Gloria and Johanna.

Thomas was preceded in death his parents, Anton and Elizabeth; and his sister, Ella.
