Funeral for Alex Seydler Held Friday
Funeral services for Alex ("Slick") Seydler,77,of Route 3,Weimar were held Friday,Oct. 28,from Weimar United Church of Christ,with Rev.D.L.R McDougle officiating.Burial was in Masonic Cemetery.
Mr.Seydler died at 7 p.m. Tuesday,Oct. 26,in the Audie L, Murphy Veterans Administration Hospital,San Antonio,of leukemia,after three months' illness.He had been in the hospital since Sept. 2.
Born May 12,1900,at Holman,he was a son of Alex and Ida (Hartmann) Seydler.He married Tina Krahl at Seguin on Nov. 17,1949.
Mr.Seydler served 34 months in the Army during World War II,including duty in the Rhineland,where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
A lifelong resident of this area,he was a farmer and rancher and also,did carpenter work.He was a member of the VFW and Weimar United Church of Christ.
His wife survives,along with two sons,Redd W. Seydler of Cat Spring and Larry Seydler of Houston;a daughter,Mrs.Toby (Shirley) Barlow of Houston;a grandson,Toby Jayson Barlow;and one sister,Mrs.Martha Richards of Weimar.A sister and six brothers preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were Alfred Kunz,Leo Kunz,Pats Heger,Kervy Kahlden,Alvin Prause and Emil Dusek.
