CALDWELL — Services for Gus Schmidt, 81, Route 6, Caldwell, who died Wednesday in a Caldwell hospital, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. today in Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, by the Rev. Jerry Reed of Deerflat Free Methodist Church, Caldwell. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
He was born Sept. 21, 1899, in Saskatchewan, Canada. He was reared and educated in Canada. He moved to Oregon with his family when he was 16. He was married in 1927 in The Dalles, Ore. They lived and farmed in Oregon. They moved to Idaho in 1948. They farmed in Caldwell until he retired in 1966.
Survivors include his wife, Nettie, and a son, Walter, both of Caldwell; a daughter, Irene Howard of Salem, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
Memorials may be made to Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital, Salt Lake City.
