She was born in Harrison County, Indiana on August 21, 1916, to Lafe and Elsie Amy. She was married for 35 years to Carl M. Russell, who predeceased her in June 1975. Survivors include a daughter and son; 3 grandsons, 6 great grand-children; two sisters, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Inez is predeceased by four brothers: Dudley Amy, Benjamin Amy, Sidney Amy and John Amy, and ten sisters: Carol Conrad, Della Funk, Ambrosia Hughes, Lily Amy, Audrey Gehlbach, Alice Harvey, Mary Ann Gustin, Corrine Pankaskie, Peggy James, and Dixie Amy. Inez attended Central Normal College in Danville, IN and later moved to Indianapolis where she worked as a Clerk for Indiana Court of Appeals Chief Judge, A. J. Stevenson and later for Indiana Governor Henry F. Schricker. Though the law was always dear to her heart, marriage and motherhood became her profession. She threw herself into those duties as fully as she did everything in her life. Inez had a deep Faith which guided the manner in which she lived. Volunteer work filled her years. She was a member of P.E.O. (Chapter P) and a P.E.O. Past Indiana State President. She was on the Board of the Meridian Foundation, and also served on the Carmel Planning Commission. Using her artistic talent, she made posters, and created costumes for grade school and church and community events, maintaining an extensive costume collection in her basement. Inez was a Charter Member of Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, Carmel, where she served in many capacities including Session, the Pastor Nominating Committee and the Banner Bunch committee, to name only a few. Inez's generosity and genuine interest in other people, her deep appreciation of nature and of God's blessings along with her delightful sense of humor will always be among the things we remember most about her.
