George Jacob Ehrlich, son of Gottfried and Eva Elizabeth (Reissig) Ehrlich was born March 22, 1909, Russell, KS. His death occurred December 13, 1990, Hadley
Regional Medical Center, Hays, KS after several months of failing health. His age was 81 years, 8 months, and 21 days.

Jake, as all of his friends knew him, lived all his life in the Russell community, he received his basic education in the local schools and during WW II served in the US Army. After his honorable discharge from the military service, he turned to Russell and on Nov. 7, 1946 was united in marriage to Elsa Alvina SCHULTZ. This union was blessed with one son Stephen.

For many years Jake worked as a welder in the oil fields, in and around Russell. He later began working for the City of Russell in the City Electric Plant, Russell , working from 1955 until he had a take early medical retirement in 1971

He was a member St. John Lutheran church at Russell and for many years a member of the American Legion Post #99 at Russell. From the time of his discharge from the US Army, Jake was active and participated in the Honor Guard for the Legion at the Military Graveside Services. He was a member of the Honor Team until his health failed to the point that he could no longer be active.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Elsa who died October 26, 1990; two brothers, Alex and Emanuel Ehrlich who died as an infant; and two sisters: Eva Kraft and Martha Bender.

Survivors: son, Stephen Colorado Springs, Colo.; sisters, Alvina Parker, Ellsworth; Katie Kraft, Wichita, several other relatives and friends.

Funeral 10 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, with Rev. Michael Kerr. Pohlman's Mortuary Russell. Burial church cemetery. Memorials to the church.
