Augusta Jane "Nancy" Kinne was the daughter of George Nathan & Nancy Mary (Skinner) Kinne. She married James Ware Philp on 6 Apr 1856 in Jefferson Co., Illinois. They were the parents of eight children: Anna Elizabeth who died in childhood, Ida E., wife of Ichabod Newell, of Blissville Township; Emma F., wife of Wilburn Dodds, of McClellan Township; Charles Thomas Philp who died in Grover, Colorado, James Walter Philp, Harry Oliver Philp, M.D. of Benton, Illinois, Maggie who married George McMeen, and Mary who died in childhood.
Her father called "Nancy" after her mother because he said that she looked like her mother. She was called Nancy Kinne on her marriage certificate to James Philp.
