Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 5, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Memorial donations may be made to Durant Cemetery Association or the Durant Ambulance Service in his memory.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday April 6, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Father John Spencer will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist, Sue Voss and vocalist, Henry Bentley. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.
Lawrence Earl Lilienthal was born October 13, 1917, in Scott County, the son of Henry and Anna (Grafing) Lilienthal. He married Beatrice Tena Bockwoldt on January 10, 1942, in Davenport. Together they farmed in Cedar and Muscatine counties, until they retired and moved to Durant in 1978. Beatrice preceded him in death on April 30, 2010. He served on the Durant Cemetery Board, on the Board of Directors of the Stockton Farmers Co-op and on the Stockton School Board.
He is survived by three daughters, Vonnie (Harvey) Dittman and Vicki (Loren) Meyer, both of Durant and Peggy (Richard) Timm of Tipton; one son, Thomas (Sally) Lilenthal of Wilton; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son-in-law, Loren Cole, two granddaughters, Megan Lilienthal and Dawn Dittmer, three sisters, Meta Otto, Alice Sievers and Stella Ploen and six brothers, Harry, Albert, Raymond, Arthur, Allen and Alvin Lilienthal.
