Parish records for Vrejlev, Hjorring, Denmark show her birth and christening name as Marianne Kirstine Jensdatter. Her parents are Jens Nielsen and Else Terkildsdatter. Her father's name is sometime recorded as Jens Nielsen Toft.
Marianne was baptized when she was eight years.
When Marianne was 23 years old she married Niels Peter Nielsen from Vejby, Hjorring, Denmark. They were married June 20, 1872 in Copenhagen, Denmark. They were married the day before they left to come to America. They sailed from Copenhagen on the steam ship, Otto, to England. When they landed in England, they went by railway to Liverpool where they embarked on the ocean steamer "Nevada". The passenger list gives their names as Niels P. Nielsen age 23 and Stine Nielsen age 23. They arrived in New York on July 10, 1872. They traveled by train to Salt Lake City, and arrived there July 17, 1872.
Marianne Kirstine and Niels Peter raised their family in Richfield, Utah. Their children are Niels Peter, James Christian, Hannah Christine, Herman Taylor, Nephi William, Bernetta Malinda and Edgar Herbert.
This was at the time polygamy was practiced in the Church.
Mariane's sister, Johanne Marie, came to Richfield in 1880. She had two sons who were born in Denmark. Niels Peter married her on March 30, 1881. He adopted her sons, Thomas and Edvard Christian Jensen. The children born to Niels Peter and Johanne Marie are: Ammon Joseph, Alma Dorius, and Elsie Marie.
Their families helped settle Richfield. Where they were well known and respected.
Marianne and Johanne Marie's father and brother came to America and settled in Idaho. They are buried in the Mink Creek Cemetery in Idaho. Their mother stayed in Denmark.
Marrianne died December 1, 1917 in Richfield, Utah. She is buried by her husband, Niels Peter, her sister, Johanna Marie, and some of their children.
