MRS. MARY SCHMIDT DEAD
Resident of East Second Street Died After Three Weeks' Illness.
Mrs. Mary Eckert Schmdit, aged 59 years, widow of the late Charles Schmidt, passed away at 8:00 o'clock this morning at her home on east Second street, after an illness of three weeks, resulting from high blood pressure and other complications.
Mrs. Schmidt was a native of Udenhein, Germany. She was a daughter of the late Conrad and Elizabeth Eckert. Mrs. Schmidt and her brother Chris Eckert, came directly to this city from Germany with their uncle, John Eckert, thirty-five years ago. Each of them settled in this city and have made their home here since that time. She was united in marriage to her late husband, Charles Schmidt, in 1897. Mr. Schmidt preceded her in death seven years ago.
Besides her brother, Chris Eckert, of this city, she is survived by tow sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Bockman, and Mrs. Anna Lohrey, of Germany, and two brothers, Henry and Conrad Eckert, also of Germany.
Mrs. Schmidt was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran and Reformed church and a woman of fine character. Her kindly disposition won for her a host of friends and admirers who will learn of her death with deep regret.
