Marie Grooms, 104, of Kennewick, died November 6, 2013 at home. She was born March 30, 1909 in Sugar City, Colorado to parents, Peter and Christine Glantz. Marie lived in Kennewick for 71 years.

She and her husband, Oliver Solheim, owned Ole's Rentals at the Richland Wye. She lived in Portland, Oregon and several places in Wyoming and Montana while growing up with 10 siblings. Her parents were sharecroppers and Marie was the "hired hand" when her three brothers left home.

She loved the outdoors and gardening. She also loved to crochet, knit and do various crafts. When she met and married the love of her life, Glen Grooms, they went dancing at the various Senior Centers around the area.

Marie is survived by her sisters, Molly, Elizabeth, and Alvina, son, Richard Spadt and wife, Margit. She had numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 10, from 4-6 p.m., at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick. Graveside services will be Monday, November 11, at 10 a.m., at Riverview Heights Cemetery, 1200 S. Olympia Street, Kennewick. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Pasco 1st Lutheran Church, 530 W. Bonneville, Pasco.
