Matthew T. Fox, 73, Village Marshal in Eland the past 15 years, died suddenly Sunday morning at 4 o'clock of a heart attack at his home in that village. He had been in ill health seven years. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the family home and at 1:30 o'clock at the Congregational Church in Eland. The Rev. P. F. Pfaffman, Birnamwood, officiated and burial was in Shawano Woodlawn Cemetery. Pall bearers were George Brunner, Robert Schugt, Fred Gilder, Felix Konkol and Henry and Werner Wolfinger.
The Deceased was born January 10, 1967, in the Duchy of Luxemburg and emigrated to Chilton in 1881 with his parents. In his early youth he entered the employment of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway. Later he was switchman for the Chicago and North Western railway for 35 years. He had lived in Eland 40 years and had retired from railroading 15 years ago. He was married in 1924 to Mrs. Alma Elefson in Eland. Surviving are the widow; three daughters by former marriages, Mrs. Lorraine Schlissen and Mrs. Elizabeth Lenze, Green Bay, and Mrs. Kathryn Lutz, Milwaukee; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Wagner, Marathon and Sister Wilbur, who is in a convent in Minnesota; a brother, Anthony (Anton) Fox, Evanston IL and seven grandchildren.
