Wanda Lee Hocker, 91, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at her home with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Edward Sumrall officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2012, at the funeral home.

Wanda was the 11th of 14 children born in Eddy, Texas, to the late Herman and Emma Schronk Huber. One great accomplishment she made was to be the only one out of the family of 14 to graduate from high school, from which she did at Bruceville-Eddy High School in 1940. On September 28, 1940, she married Fred Hocker of Bynum. For 38 years, she worked for Rose Marie Manufacturing in Hillsboro. She was a resident of Hill County until moving to Waco in 1999. While her health permitted, she loved tending her vegetable and flower gardens, sewing, baking, playing games, and most of all taking her trips to Louisiana. She was a member of Cogdell United Methodist Church in Waco.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Stahr and husband, Larry, of Waco; son, Mike Hocker, of Waco; grandchild, Kelly Stahr, of Waco; brother, Raymond "Fat" Huber, of Eddy; several nieces and nephews; and last but not least, her faithful Boston Terrier, Baxter. Q9(2)
