She was born Corning June 14, 1911 to John and Anna Hanson Tapper.
She was a retired assistant director of nursing at Corning Hospital. She was also a first Lieutenant in the US Army Nurses' Corps serving with a 7th Army MASH Unit in Africa, Italy, France, Belgium, and Germany.
She was a graduate of Campbell-Union and Northside High Schools. She was also a graduate of the Arnot-Ogden School of Nursing, the Gregg Business Institute and did graduate work at several universities.
She was a charter member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Olga Biondalillo of Mount Morris and Ruth Staahl of Horseheads; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Calling hours at eh Phillips Funeral Home, Corning, will be Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Services will be there at 11 am Thursday with the Rev. David B Allen, pastor of the Emanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Coopers Plains Cemetery.
