Carl O. Tapper, 66 of 111 Argonne St., died today, Nov. 21, 1979, in Corning Hospital following and extended illness.
He was born July 1, 1913 in Corning, the son of John and Anna Hanson Tapper. He was married to Edrie Wright in Lancaster, Pa.
He was retired from Corning Glass Works where he was a supervisor at the Sullivan Park Research Center. He has nearly 40 years of service there. He was a graduate of Northside High School and Genesee Normal School and at one time taught in the Elmira school system.
He served as a captain in the US Army during World War II and was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife, Erdie; a daughter, Mrs. Keith (Suzanne) Clark of Corning; sisters, Mrs Mickey (Olga) Biondolillo of Mount Morris, Ester Tapper of Mount Morris, Mrs. Joseph (Ruth) Staahl of Horseheads; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Phillips Funeral Home in Corning Friday 2-4 pm. Services will be there at 4 pm Friday with the Rev. David Allen, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Emanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
