Cleo R. Landon, 88, died May 27 of complications resulting from an accident. There was cremation. She was born April 1, 1924, the daughter of Ben and Emilie Rein of Russell, where she was reared and educated. After high school, Cleo attended the University of Kansas where she received a BA. It was at KU where she met Wilmer D. "Will" Landon also of Russell, and a veteran of WW II. They married Aug. 4, 1946 and eventually settled in metro Denver in 1949.

Few women of her generation have been able to balance family and career as well as Cleo and she took to both roles superbly. She taught elementary education in the Cherry Creek School system. Later, she earned a master's degree at the University of Colo. which qualified her to become a middle school counselor, which she loved. She also loved being a wife and mother to her daughters Emilie and Barbara. In addition to family and professional responsibilities, she maintained an active social life, and her Chrismas parties were a highlight of the year for her many friends. She was a dedicated golfer, skier, runner, and active in her church.

She is survived by her husband, Will, of Greenwood Village, and daughters Emillie Landon and Barbara Bennett, both of Denver. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Frank Rein of Russell, and Isabelle Wisdom of Wichita.

A memorial service to commemorate her remarkable life is scheduled for June 22 at 3 p.m. at St. James Presbyterian Church in Littleton, CO. Donations may be made in her name to the church. Ellis Family Services, Littleton, CO is in charge of these arrangements.
