Eldin “Curly” Rudolph Witt, 78, of Bancroft, Nebraska died on January 8, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Eldin “Curly” Witt was born March 28, 1923 in rural Bancroft, Nebraska to Julius and Margaret (Leu) Witt. He was baptized at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender on April 21, 1923 and later confirmed on April 10, 1938. His confirmation verse was taken from Romans 5:1, “Thereefore, since we have been justified thorough faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Eldin attended School District 62. On March 23, 1947, he was united in marriage to Mylet Kratke at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Pender by Rev. Gnuse. They farmed west of Bancroft and moved to the Witt homestead in 1960 where they raised hots, had a dairy herd, and did custom corn shelling around the area. In 1984 they moved to Bancroft. He was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and always loved to visit with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed gardening, and doing his latch-hook.
Eldin leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Mylet, four children; Carolyn Bonneau and her husband Paul of Bancroft, Rodney and his wife Janelle of Bancroft, Sharon and her husband Rodney Schultz of Bancroft, and Galen and his wife Lorie of Lincoln. 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, sisters Elna Sila of South Sioux City, Orma Beckmann of Pender, and Norma Novak of Randolph, NE, and one brother Melvin of Wakefield also survive Eldin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Elmer and Ervin.
The Committal Service will be conducted at St. John’s cemetery. After the Committal service the family of Eldin “Curly” Witt wish to invite all friends and relatives to join the family in the fellowship hall for a light lunch. The family wishes to than you for coming today to share in their sorrow, but to also join them in praising God for the victory that is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. His name be praised this day!
Lunch is being served by members of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
