He graduated in 1976 from Farrell High School.
A self-employed businessman, he owned many businesses in this area, most recently Yankevich Recycling in Wheatland.
He was a member of the Serbian Home, Farrell.
Alex enjoyed cooking lamb and pigs on the spit, fishing and trapping.
He was a lifeguard at the former Muscarella's in Pulaski Township, Lawrence County.
His wife, Melodie Martin Yankevich, whom he married Jan. 21, 1975, passed away Sept. 20, 1990.
Surviving are: his mother, Katherine Bordell Yankevich, Sharon; five daughters, Fiona Yankevich, Pittsburgh; Tasha Wells, Youngstown; Nika Wareham, Masury; Alissa Yankevich, Sharon; and Vessa Yankevich, Pittsburgh; two sons, Lech and Kaz Yanicko, both Kentucky; three sisters, Debbie Bordell, Farrell; Rose Ann Hogg, Hermitage; and Kathy Bialk, Wayne, W.Va.; a brother, Leo Yankevich, Gliwice, Poland; and a granddaughter, Lydia Wells, Youngstown.
Besides his wife, Alex was preceded in death by his father and a son, Lex Yankevich.
