A prominent Hays oilman and cattle rancher died early Monday morning at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City after an illness of about three weeks. Forty-one year old Leo F. Dreiling Jr., 3111 Tam O'Shanter Drive, died at the hospital after being transferred to Kansas City from Hays.

He had lived in Hays for only one year, but had been a lifelong resident of Ellis County. Dreiling was associated with his father, Leo J. Dreiling Sr., in the operation of the Dreiling Oil Co. Prior to moving to Hays, Dreiling lived with his family in the rural Victoria area. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, VFW, and the American Legion here. Dreiling was a graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy here.

Survivors, include his widow, Jeannine, of the home; two daughters, June 16, and Joyce, 15, both of the home; a son, Leo Dreiling, III, 12, also of the home. Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo J. Dreiling Sr., rural Victoria; four sisters, Mrs. Art (Anita) Feltes, Victoria, Mrs. Leland (Lillian) Schumacher, Victoria, Mrs. Gilbert (Irene) Kippes, Hays, and Mrs. K.C. (Shirley) Gross, Hays; and one brother, John G. Dreiling, Victoria.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Church here with interment in the church cemetery. A parish wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at Brock's North Hill Chapel. Friends may call at the chapel from 7:30 p.m. Wednesday until the time of services.
