SERVICE FRIDAY FOR MRS. VOGEL
Has Heart Attack on Tuesday Night
Mrs. Edward Vogel passed away at her home in Sigourney, Tuesday night, January 12 at 10:45 of a heart attack, at the age of 65 years, five months and 12 days.
Funeral services were held Friday morning at the St. Mary Catholic Church at 9:30. Requiem high Mass was conducted by the Rev. Father Keating of Iowa City, assisted by the St. Mary choir, and Mrs. Robert Snakenberg, soloist. Pallbearers were six nephews, Richard Streigel, Leonard Dumont, Omer Dumont, James Dumont, Cletus Osweiler and James Osweiler. Burial was in Pleasant Grove cemetery.
Catherine Vogel was born August 1, 1888 in East Lancaster township, the daughter of Nicholas and Margaret Schmall Dumont. She attended school in Lancaster township and St. Elizabeth school in Harper.
She was united in marriage to Edward J. Vogel November 22, 1908 at Harper. Their entire married life was spent farming northwest of Sigourney, until the past year when they moved to 214 East Jackson Street in Sigourney.
She is survived by her husband, three children, Mrs. Cloyd Grimes of Keota, Kenneth Vogel and Mrs. Robert Conklin of Sigourney; six grandchildren, Mrs. Jerome Berg, Carol and Donna Grimes of Keota, James Grimes stationed with the Air Force in Tokyo, Japan, Danny Vogel and Doris Conklin of Sigourney, and one greatgrandchild, Donald Jerome Berg; two sisters and five brothers, Mrs. Albert Striegel of Harper, Mrs. Otto Schmid, Matts, Peter and George Dumont of Sigourney, Gus of Sheridan, Wyoming and Theodore of Washington.
Preceding her in death were her parents, and one granddaughter, Sue Ellen Grimes.
