Katharina Rötzer was born at Tiefenbach, Kreis Cham, Oberpfalz, Bavaria, Germany, the daughter of Wolfgang Rötzer (born Nov. 20, 1774, at Tiefenbach) and Elisabeth Vogl Rötzer (born Aug. 9, 1789, at Schwarzenfeld, Kreis Schwandorf, Germany). She married Ignatz Bindl on June 28, 1841, at Biberbach, Kreis Cham, Bayern, Germany. Katharina immigrated on June 8, 1863, with seven others, to the Port of New York, New York.

"Mrs. Bindel, wife of Ignatz Bindel, died at her home in Franklin, on Sunday last, of paralysis, at an advanced age. The funeral took place from the Catholic church at Plain. Deceased was one of the oldest settlers of Franklin, and enjoyed the respect and esteem of a large circle. Mrs. Bindel was the mother of Michael Bindel, Mrs. W. Alt, Mrs. Alois Hutter, of Mazomanie, Mrs. Zeller, of Ohio, Mrs. Alois Brickel, Joseph Bindel and Mrs. John Lins."
