Born Elizabeth NJ - attended Battin High School, classmate of Judy Blume, later to become celebrated author. She worked as secretary for Thomas & Betts until marriage and birth of her son. She received various awards for secretarial skills in high school and was in the marching band. She married David A Malinski May 1970 whom she met at while working at Thomas & Betts. They lived on the first floor of her parents 2 family house on First Avenue in Elizabeth NJ until her death. They had just put a deposit on their own home in Rahway NJ but their dream home was not meant to be. A devote Catholicm maried at St. Adalbert R.C. Polish Church in Elizabeth her family parish She and her family later became parishioners of Holy Rosary RC Church which was only "down the block" from where they lived. The City of Elizabeth issued a proclamation upon her death for her contribution to the city.
Lorraine died of sudden cardiac arrest on what was "Superbowl Sunday" 1984; she was revived once but did not survive and second heart attack at the hospital. The Zyla family had a history of sudden cardiac death. Her older brother John (aka Sonny) died in 1973 age 38. Sadly two of his children (Mark Zyla and Pamela Zyla) also died young of sudden cardiac arrest due to blockage in the LAD artery. This was found to be a heredity condition in the Zyla family going back generations. She was loved by family and long time close friends, Dorothy Mnich and Mary Ann Lucey. A devoted wife,mother, daughter and niece. She is remembered.
