Apparently this family owned the Welch Hotel and Mrs. Lizzie Welch died in January, then her husband in April and then his brother Judson came out to bury his brother and he died a week later in Spearfish in 1878.

Mrs. Lizzie Welch, wife of Major Welch of Deadwood, is dead. Her marriage took place less than two months since.
