Gerhardt D. "Dick" Leu, 70, died Friday, Dec. 15, 1989, at his home, 516 Yellowstone. He was born March 27, 1919, at Bushnell, Neb., to John C. and Emma B. (Suhr) Leu. He moved to Alliance in 1935, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, 1941 - 1945. He was employed by the State of Nebraska Department of Roads, and was a member of Lakefield Wesleyan Chapel. He married Shirley Hand in Alliance on Aug., 27, 1948. She preceded him in death in January of this year. Survivors include a son, Richard, Omaha; two daughters, Kimberly Leu of Alliance and Shirlene Lojaka of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two sisters, Olga Bowman of Alliance and Henrietta Van Pelt of Neola, Iowa; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 10 a.m. at Bates-Landa Chapel, with Pastor Gene VanHuss officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery, with military rites at graveside. Memorials may be sent to the family.
