Katharine Yeager, nee Deines, was born August 21, 1867 at Norka, Russia and died August 3, 1935 at Harvard, Nebraska at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 12 days.

She came with her parents to America in 1876 and located first in Wisconsin, then in Ohio but settled in Sutton, in 1878. She thus resided in Clay county, Nebraska 57 years. The last 12 years she lived in Harvard.

She was united in holy wedlock with John Spahn in Sutton Nebraska on December 28, 1885. To this union were born nine children; four sons and five daughters. The oldest child, a daughter, died in infancy. Her husband died at Sutton July 18, 1921.

On November 24, 1923 she was united in marriage with Wilhelm Yeager, her now sorrowing husband, at Harvard.

As a child she was blessed with a good christian training and grew into a strong and beautiful character. In 1883 she was soundly converted to God, was baptized and lived to the end of her days a triumphant christian life.

She was a member of the Mennonite church but since her church was not represented in Harvard she was a faithful worshiper at the services of the Zion Evangelical church during the late years. She was united in membership with the local Sunday school and the Woman's Missionary society of this church. She loved and in return she experienced the love and confidence of many friends and neighbors.
