FRIEDA GROTE
Frieda (Fredricha) Christine Munz Grote was born March 7, 1885, at Kinsman, Illinois to Imanuel and Rosena Munz. She was confirmed int the Evangelical Church at the age of 15. During her early years she was a dressmaker for the Emery Bird Thayer Co. in Kansas City, Mo.

On November 26, 1908 she was married to August F. Grote. To this union were born six sons. Two died in infancy. She was preceded in death by a son, August Jr., at the age of 14, and Rolland Paul, age 28; her husband died March 30, 1959, and a great grandson, Danny Joe Cox, in 1965.

In the early years of her marriage she and her husband made their home in the Berwick community and Fairview, moving to Sabetha in 1832, where she attended the Methodist Church faithfully. She was a member of the Northwest Country Club and attended meetings up until her health failed. She was also a member of Sapphire Chapter Order Eastern Star.

She had been in failing health for quite some time and had made her home at the Apostolic Christian Rest Home for the last 17 months. She died June 15, 1974 at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 8 days at the Sabetha Community Hospital.

Surviving are two sons Harold, of Sabetha and Lloyd of Hamilton, Ohio, 10 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was the only surviving member of her immediate family.

The memorial services were held June 17, 1974 at Popkess Mortuary with the Rev. William Gahm officiating.

Interment was made at the Sabetha Cemetery.
